Any advice on how I could get the documents (Indian birth and marriage certificate) Apostille in the US? ?

I am an Indian citizen living in Chicago, IL. I need to get my birth certificate and marriage certificate Apostille. Can Indian Consulate provide these services or do I have to ask someone in India to help. Also any advice on these services offereed in Mumbai?? You will have to have someone in India handle this for you. I'd just start there and save myself a lot of work.
